2010 WTF! Logo Design – The Nine Network. Channel Nine Australia

Posted by Joseph on July 07, 2011 in After Effects, After Effects Compositing, Categories, Motion Design tagged with , , , ,

I'm not sure why but I love the way this logo animation turned out. I struggled with it for ages. Then I decided to simplify the project and switched off a lot of the passes and started flicking through different blending modes with only 3 or 4 layers switched on. Suddenly this multicoloured surprise jumped out of the quagmire. I was thrilled but thought it was too psychedelic to ever get approved. Yet happily, it was unanimously approved and went to air in the fo

Architeuthis Colossus Id. Trapcode Particular experiment

Posted by Joseph on March 03, 2011 in After Effects, After Effects Compositing, Motion Design tagged with , , , , ,

Here's an experimental project I made for fun and to test some of the new features in trapcode particular 2. It was fairly popular on vimeo and even recieved a complimentary comment from the legendary Peder Norrby - trapcode's creator. The general concept is trying to visualise what a sleeping Giant Squid's id might create if it heard the music of Aphex Twin. Yes, a worn out old genre I know. Giant squid are one of my favourite animals. Also, a favourite animal of the Sperm Whale as that's their primary source of food. The squid live about 1km below the surface of the ocean and tha

Wacom inkling – Amazing!

Posted by Joseph on August 08, 2011 in Categories tagged with

The Wacom Inkling records your strokes while you draw on a sketchbook or paper. The specially designed pen's location is recorded by a infrared and ultrasonic receiver with 2GB (or a couple of hundred drawings) of storage. That's the basics but there are plenty of other features - usb rechargeable batteries, 1024 levels of pressure sensitivity and refillable ink cartridges and so on.   Looks like Wacom have another revolution on their hands. I stopped using a mouse about 7 years ago because the Wacom tablet became more intuitive and faster for me and their tablets are

Posted by Joseph on August 08, 2011 in Categories, Visual Effects Work tagged with , , , , ,

Well this is a proud day for me! The show 'The Block' became Australia's highest rating show of the year during it's final episode last night with over 3 million viewers resulting in an audience share of 42.2% Visual Effects Supervising and Art Directing the launch campaign was an enormously challenging task but the results couldn't be better. The show launched 15% up from 2010 and ended on this high note. Needless to say there was a celebration this morning!
